| Sony KDL-46S2010 46in LCD TV
With Sony expected to launch a new, updated range of LCD TVs any day now, something rather splendid is happening to the brands current range. Basically, theyre having their prices slashed. And when we say slashed, we mean slashed. For having once being yours only if you could find the princely sum of 2,200, Sonys 46S2010 is now available for just 1,389 a price fall of nearly a grand, and one which makes the 46S2010 one of the cheapest 46in TVs ever. So if it can deliver the same sort of image quality witnessed on numerous other models in Sonys current Bravia range, it could just be one of the biggest LCD bargains ever. Fingers crossed Aesthetically the 46S2010 is sort of OK looking. Its dark grey colour scheme feels old school without being hip, and its matt, distinctly plasticky finish feels uncharacteristically cheap for a Sony TV.
Bill Gates appears on The Daily Show
Then, just as he did last week at the World Economic Forum, Gates talked about the future of television and how it will eventually be broadcast entirely over the Internet... through the Xbox 360, of course. Neowin is hosting the entire 10-minute segment. It's not as entertaining as most Daily Show interviews, but still good for a few chuckles. .
Review: Sharp LC-46XD1E LCD TV
Much has been made of Sharp's new 1080p LCD TV line-up and indeed the LC46XD1E is one of the most attractive looking sets we've seen in a while. Not only is the glossy black finish a real winner, the overall design is neat and compact, meaning it won't dominate the room any more than it needs to. It's reassuring to see a proper metal stand rather than a cheapo plastic one, too. Another huge plus is its 'True HD' 1920x1080p panel, so not only will the LC46XD1E let you watch hi-def 1080i broadcasts from Sky in the resolution they were intended, but also you're good to go with the forthcoming 1080p-capable Playstation 3 plus any other Blu-ray/HD DVD hi-def disc spinners. Connection-wise the LC46XD1E isn't quite as spot on though. While there are two HDMI slots, two Scarts (only one of which is RGB) and even a CI slot for Top Up TV, we were left scratching our heads at the lack of a dedicated component input.
Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV660
In terms of a desktop replacement that can pretty much do it all, the Toshiba Qosmio G35 can handle all your computing tasks and be a high definition multimedia platform at the same time. About the only thing lacking is a HDTV tuner, but this is not a very frequent computer feature right now. .
