Through an exclusive Taipei Game Show deal, gamers can take home an Xbox 360 Core package and a BenQ 37-inch or 42-inch HD LCD TV for NT$49,900 or NT$69.900 (US$1,210 or US$2,116).

Crown this year's NFL broadcast champion

Sure we can compare the quality of various iterations of the State of the Union HDTV broadcast, but we're pretty sure that most people bought their HDTVs to watch football instead of politics. So, which network brought us the best broadcasts of this -- almost complete -- NFL season? Mediaweek took a look at the season that was, preferring CBS' 1080i broadcast over Fox's 720p, but like many of us are still trying to figure out why the network only broadcasts 3 games a week in HD. C'mon CBS, we're even getting live HDTV from Hawaii now, are you going to tell us an afternoon game in Cincinnati has to be in standard def? NBC joined the crowd this year with Sunday Night Football and ESPN took over Monday Night Football from ABC, but with CBS airing the Super Bowl we look forward to a quality broadcast with just one game scheduled that day.

Tonight's TV best bets

"The Terminal" (2004), 8-11 p.m., ABC. A sweet soul (Tom Hanks) lands in New York at the wrong time. His country has had a coup; his visa is no good. He can't go back and he can't step onto American soil. The terminal is his home. That contrivance sets in motion a warm comedy. Some parts - including his reason for the trip - are extreme stretches. Others, including a friendship with Catherine Zeta-Jones, work wonderfully. Director Steven Spielberg was in his immaculate stage here making movies that seemed pristine, but not passionate. "Terminal" is a good movie, but no match for the vibrant Spielberg of old.

"Johnny and the Sprites" debut, 10 a.m., Disney Channel. John Tartaglia, a Tony nominee for "Avenue Q," plays a guy surrounded by amiable sea sprites. Each 11-minute segment has a new song by a Broadway-type composer; the theme song is from "Wicked" composer Stephen Schwartz.

Last-minute Deals on Super Bowl TVs

At the end of last month I said post-holiday sales on TVs would be good, considering everyone is trying to get rid of their old inventory. But this holiday season was a little different from holiday seasons past: The deals on TVs were so good last November and December that there wasn't much room left for prices to go down. So post-holiday sales on TVs have been relatively few and far between, but luckily the best TV I've ever seen in my life is on sale until March 31st, so I insist on writing about it here since some of you may still want to take the big HDTV plunge before Sunday's Super Bowl kick-off.

Pioneer plasmas are pricey, but they're also almost-perfect. I seriously considered forking over $8,000 of my savings for the Pioneer Pro Elite FHD1, a 50-inch, full 1080p plasma with superb color, clarity, and video processing that makes even iPod video look great.
