Usually only available for Panasonic HD Plasma owners, the free support program helps consumers cut through the clutter to make educated choices when buying a flat panel HDTV to watch the big game. Panasonic initially opened the Plasma Concierge service to all consumers during the holiday season and its decision to extend it is based on the popularity of the service and the interest in flat panel TVs during the football playoffs and championship games. DIRECTV Sat-Go (Satellite-To-Go) Announced
Going where no other television service provider has gone before, DIRECTV, the nation's leading digital satellite television service, is introducing the world's first fully-integrated, portable satellite and TV system - DIRECTV® Sat-Go (Satellite-To-Go). This new product, created by DIRECTV and TV producer/writer, Rick Rosner, was unveiled today at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Scheduled to launch in spring 2007, DIRECTV Sat-Go will come in an easy-to-carry, briefcase-like design that includes a 17-inch LCD monitor with integrated DIRECTV Receiver, flat antenna and replaceable/rechargeable laptop-style battery. Once the DIRECTV Sat-Go unit is opened, its quick and simple setup makes it easy for customers to find line-of-sight with DIRECTV satellites and receive DIRECTV® programming within minutes (provided the user is within range of the DIRECTV signal).
Primary side power module rolls for LCD TVs
Potentia Semiconductor claims the industry's first primary side power module for LCD TVs with screen sizes from 32 inches to 65 inches. The PM-6010 enables LCD TV makers to cost-effectively build high-efficiency power supplies with the industry's smallest size, the company said. The PM-6010 is a power control and conversion module for primary side, off-line power factor correction (PFC) and isolated DC/DC power conversion using LLC resonant power topologies. "This power solution is the first of its kind to fully integrate PFC controlled power with all required power switching semiconductors," said Potentia CEO Tom Griffin. "The PM-6010 allows for multiple PFC topologies and a wide range of operating frequencies to provide a total solution for emerging power supply requirements." The PM-6010 features the advantages of an integrated PFC and LLC, allowing high operating frequency capability on chip power conversion devices for improved energy and heat dissipation, and multiple built-in protection functions.
